Surfs Up!!!

Today, the girls and I went to Los Cardones Surf Lodge with our friends, The Rodriguez's and the Diven's. Los Cardones is about an hour drive from our house and most of the trip was on a very bumpy dirt road. We saw cows, horses, goats and other animals I can't really even say what they were! The trip was a little challenging but when we got there, it was worth every minute.

Los Cardones is a beach front property with cabanas and bungalows - it was created for surfers but is open to the public. We paid $10/per adult to enter and we arrived around 10 AM - the cabanas are right on the ocean and the breeze is so awesome!! It was breath-taking and the ocean was so warm and beautiful. It was a slice of paradise.

We all immediately went into the ocean - all except for Lucie, who cried at the shore and was acting like some child I did not give birth to - Martita, who is afraid of the pool was holding my hand and getting swept away with the tide and loved every minute of it!! We played in the water, gathered a bunch of shells and then had an awesome lunch in the cabana. I ordered the catch of the day and was told the fish I was eating was alive and swimming at 6:00 AM that morning!! It was delicious!! I took a look at one of the bungalows and they are gorgeous. Beautiful beds with netting to cover them (to of course, keep those bugs away) hardwood floors and it was so clean!! The one major set-back, no electricity!! Initially - I thought, "so what, I can live without electricity as long as I can look out my window and see the ocean" and then the more time that went by, I realized - no Internet, no Blogging, no TV - no lights.....O.K. well I know I could do it for at least one night - right?!?!?

I so want to go back and lay in a hammock and watch the sun set - we are definitely going back!! I experienced this beauty and realized how beautiful this country is - being outside of Managua is such a breath of fresh air - to walk the beach - hear and feel the ocean, awesome!!

Since we have been here - this is only our second excursion and after being at the beach - I decided that this is what we need to do while we are here - to not wait for word on when the Consejo is going to meet but to experience the beauty of this country with my family.

Such a great day - my last one before my husband gets here!! I just kept smiling and wishing Tim and Scarlett were with me - soon, soon they will be!! This is my last day and last night of doing this all by myself!! My husband will be here for a week while I am home and then I am bringing my girl Scarlett, back with me. She is such a love and I am so looking forward to having her here - albeit, I am her mother, she is always a big help to me and her love and support bring me such comfort and peace. I'm looking forward to showing her our temporary home - having her meet all our new friends and then watching her enjoy this country and the people - like I know she will. Yeah - so happy she will be here!!

As for my handsome husband - I have a very short time with him tomorrow evening and Saturday morning - not sure if I will have the time (or energy) to blog. So I wanted to say again to all my friends and family THANK YOU FOR READING MY BLOG - FOR LOVING AND SUPPORTING ME AND FOR SHARING THIS EXPERIENCE WITH ME!!!! You being here with me is what keeps me going!!

For the next few days - my husband will take over my blog for me - I am sure he will be witty and fun and I so look forward to hearing how it all goes for him. Please stay tuned for his entries. I will be back on the 15th - We still have a long road ahead so please stay with us - keep the comments coming and know how much I love you all!!!

Blessings - Lesa
